We have an opportunity to visit Poppleton this month on Saturday 25th February, in the morning, meeting at 9am, for a special personal guided tour for York Medical Society members. Tour followed by a Charity Coffee and Cake morning in aid of our nominated Charity this year, York Food Bank
The visit will entail;
9am meeting at the Tithe Barn in Nether Poppleton https://poppletontithebarn.co. uk. ( short walk from the No 10 Bus Lord Nelson Stop)
We will have a guided tour by Dr Bob Adams, one of our members, who is also the chair of the Trustees of this historic old Barn which featured in the battle of Marston Moor.
Following this Dr David Fraser will take us on a guided tour of the nearby Medieval moat fields featured in Time Team. David is an archeologist by training, previously holding senior positions at English Heritage as well as having been CEO at York Civic Trust and the Landmark Trust. It is sure to be a fascinating insight into this beautiful corner of York. We may have time for a short stroll as well, if the weather is good,

We will be selling cakes and preserves and books etc as well as having a tombola and raffle. Please feel free to donate any prizes for the Raffle or tombola or indeed cakes for the cake stall.
Alternatively just come along and enjoy the camaraderie and refreshments after having seen the highlights of Nether Poppleton.This will be a special relaxed morning. Please reserve your place by email to yorkmedicalsociety@gmail.com. There is no charge.
