Andrew’s talk follows the Heroic Age of British Expeditions in the early 1900s, in particular Shackleton’s epic journey to the Antarctic.  Sir James Wordie, our lecturer’s grandfather was Chief Scientist and Geologist on Shackleton’s Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition 1914-16 expedition and as expedition leader, scientist, politician, counsel and special forces advisor made his career as a Polar Explorer.

This meeting will be face to face in the York Medical Society rooms and also shared via Zoom.
Please confirm your preference for in person or virtual attendance and if you want to join us for supper afterwards.

Event open to York Medical Society Members and their guests only

Join us in the library from 7pm for drinks.  Meeting starts at 7.30pm followed by supper if booked.
Two course meal with wine – £25 per head – please book your supper before Tuesday 6th February 2024.
