Blood and books: Medical practice and The Guild Book of the Barbers and Surgeons of York
How were surgeons trained in sixteenth century York? How did they care for the City’s inhabitants? How did they group together and how did they interact with the City’s authorities?
This talk will explore the history of medical practice in York as witnessed by the Guild Book of the Barbers and Surgeons of York, now in The British Library, and the records of the York City Archive.

Join us in the library from 7pm for drinks. Meeting starts at 7.30pm followed by supper if booked.
