Every year the York Medical Society hosts a traditional celebration of the life and work of Scotland’s own National Bard, Robert Burns.
Burns Supper 2020
We celebrate Burns Night in the Merchant Taylors’ Hall with a combination of tradition and innovation. In January 2020 (one month BC – Before Covid) world-class piper Cameron Edgar heralded the haggis, and world-class speaker David Purdie proposed the Immortal Memory with the aid of PowerPoint. The poet William McGonagall gatecrashed the event to propose a vote of thanks and legendary ceilidh band Alterego taught us Highland dancing.
